Well
Speedweek is over and the results are posted on the
SCTA-BNI website (you can use the Link on this blog). I have been following the progress on line and dismissing all the reminders that my computer was programmed to alert me to this year, from loading day to packing up yesterday. We would be heading home today and be tired / broke and discussing all the things that transpire in the 10 days adventure of Bonneville that satisfies our Salt Fever.
If you have not witnessed the awesome sunrises, the clear blue sky, the roar of mighty engines , the scream of a wide open entry at the 4 mile mark pushing 400mph or the sunsets, the wonderful camaraderie of the competitors, crew, staff and fans, you must attend. Do it next year! Don't wait, for your bucket list will be buried with your other good intentions!
Live this time not the some time.
SEE YOU ON THE SALT 2012
SpeedWeek run as many as three tracks with several timed miles.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite a spiritual fellow. It is great to read your blog as it is not just about nuts and bolts and going fast, but about real people and true emotions. Please keep up the good work.

"lesson two don't listen to people that tell you to do what you think is just wrong, unloaded engine at full throttle is bad move!"
ReplyDeleteYou should get the governor checked. I do not know how it is set but think +4700 is a bit much. You should not be able to damage the engine with a high idle test. It is done every day in diesel shops.
You can try it in your Dodge truck, probably will get 33 - 3500 rpm. If you see it going past this just take your foot off the throttle. Or you can do it on a hill in 2nd gear, just floor it. watch the tach - it will top out.
This is the same thing.
You could only do this damage if the gov is set up to high or broken.
Guessing I would say 4g is probably about it. The new cam grind may allow more. Get some help with this.
Good luck and are you going in Oct? I would like to see the run, I think you are on track for a good one.
Unfortunately I will not be able to make it, but will be looking for updates.
